How to Choose a Yoga Teacher Training School in Rishikesh
Ten checks you can make yourself, with the questions to ask and how to verify each answer. We show our own answers beside each one so you can compare any school on the same terms.
The short answer
Rishikesh has many yoga teacher training schools, and most look similar online. Before you pay a deposit, check ten things: registration, teachers, group size, price and inclusions, cancellation terms, reviews, dates, daily life, level and style, and location. Each one can be verified in a few minutes without asking the school anything.

Warning signs
- No prices, dates or batch size anywhere on the website.
- Only reviews hosted on the school's own site, with no link to the original platform.
- A promise that Yoga Alliance "certifies" you. Yoga Alliance is a registry: registered schools issue the certificate, and graduates can then apply to register as an RYT.
- Teachers without names, or with credentials you cannot find on the directory.
- Guarantees about jobs or income after the course.
- Pressure to pay the full fee at once, or a deposit policy that is not written down.
