Rules & Regulations

Welcome to Rishikesh YTTC. Welcome to our beautiful yoga home. In the spirit of a yogic lifestyle, we invite you to leave behind the comfort and luxury of daily life and open yourself to inner growth. Your stay here is dedicated to your yogic journey: physical, mental and spiritual.

We provide a clean, simple, safe and supportive environment for personal and spiritual development. All students are expected to cooperate in maintaining discipline, harmony, positivity and mutual respect throughout the course.

Rules at a glance

Attendance
Compulsory. Attend at least 90% of classes and miss fewer than five classes in any single subject to be eligible for the TTC certificate.
Curfew
Return to the school by 9:30 PM. Gates close strictly at 10:00 PM.
Not allowed
Smoking, alcohol, drugs or any intoxicating substances on campus.
Meals
Fresh vegetarian sattvic meals Monday to Saturday. The kitchen is closed on Sundays.
Exams
A practical exam (teaching a yoga class) and a written exam, generally around the 25th and 26th of the month.
AC and payment
AC on request at USD 200 per month. Full course payment on arrival or after the Opening Ceremony.

Attendance Policy (Mandatory)

  • Attendance in all classes is compulsory to be eligible for a Yoga Teacher Training Course (TTC) certificate.
  • If classes are missed without valid approval, the student will receive a retreat certificate instead of a TTC certificate.
  • In case of illness or emergency, students must inform the management before the class or as soon as possible.
  • A written explanation must be submitted for any missed classes. Uninformed absences will negatively affect the student’s performance evaluation.
  • Certificate eligibility: if a student does not attend 90% of classes or misses five (5) or more classes in any single subject, the student will not be eligible for a TTC certificate, even if the absence is due to illness.

Respect for Teachers & Classmates

  • Students must maintain respect, discipline and professionalism toward teachers and fellow students.
  • Disruptions and personal or unrelated discussions during class are not permitted.
  • If sitting out due to injury or illness, students must observe quietly and respectfully.
  • Course-related questions are welcome during class sessions.
  • Students are expected to arrive at least 5 minutes before class and be ready by the start of class.

Positive Conduct & Energy

  • The school is a sacred space for learning and transformation.
  • Any form of negativity, disrespect, aggressive behaviour or excessive complaints may result in removal from the course.
  • WhatsApp groups are strictly for official announcements and important updates.
  • Any concerns or complaints should be communicated directly to the front desk or management so we can work together to solve the matter.

Speak Less, Listen More

  • Silence, mindful speech and attentive listening are encouraged to support inner awareness.
  • Silence must be maintained in yoga halls and dining areas.
  • Conversations should be positive, respectful and conscious.

Conscious Use of Resources

  • Natural resources are precious. Please use water and electricity responsibly.
  • Turn off lights, fans and electrical appliances when leaving your room.
  • AC policy: AC is available only on request and is chargeable at USD 200 per month.

Respect for Nature & Animals

  • The school is located close to nature and surrounded by animals such as monkeys, dogs and cows. These are wild animals, and students must behave responsibly and cautiously.
  • The school is not responsible for the actions or behaviour of animals.
  • Windows must be closed when leaving rooms or classrooms.

No Smoking, Drugs or Alcohol

  • Smoking, alcohol, drugs or any intoxicating substances are strictly prohibited on campus.
  • Violation of this rule may result in immediate removal from the school without refund.

After-School Activities & Curfew

  • Students may explore the area during free time.
  • All students must return to the school by 9:30 PM.
  • School gates close strictly at 10:00 PM.
  • Overnight stays outside the school require prior written approval from the management.

Food & Dining Discipline

  • Fresh vegetarian sattvic meals are served from Monday to Saturday.
  • All meals are taken together in the dining hall.
  • Students must wash their own plates, cups and cutlery, following Yama & Niyama (discipline and cleanliness).
  • If you plan to eat outside, please inform the staff in advance to avoid food wastage.
  • Food is not allowed in rooms unless you are unwell.

Medical Care & Health

  • If a student feels unwell, management must be informed immediately.
  • The school will assist in arranging medical care if required.
  • Students are responsible for their own medical expenses and treatments.

Visitors Policy

  • Visitors (friends or family) must be registered at the reception desk.
  • A valid ID proof is required for verification.
  • Visitors are permitted during daytime only.

Sunday Relaxation Day

  • Sunday is a rest day for students, teachers and kitchen staff.
  • The school kitchen is closed on Sundays, and no meals are served.

Laundry

  • Laundry facilities are available in the main building.
  • Students should bring their own detergent.
  • Outside laundry services may also be used.

Room Essentials

  • Students are responsible for arranging their own toiletries and personal necessities. We provide toilet paper on cleaning day.

Room Cleaning & Waste Management

  • Weekly room cleaning schedules will be shared in the WhatsApp groups.
  • Do not flush toilet paper or any other items in the toilet. Please use the dustbin provided.
  • Personal waste bins must be emptied into the large dumpsters on each floor.
  • Bin liners must be used at all times. Fresh liners are available at the front desk.
  • Dispose of food waste in the dining area dustbin. Food waste should not be thrown into the room dustbin.

Room Responsibility

  • Students are responsible for the safety of their room keys.
  • Lost key replacement cost: INR 2,000 (lock replacement required).
  • Please do not use towels as a door mat or for cleaning the floor. If a towel is damaged or becomes excessively dirty due to improper use, replacement charges will apply.
  • Any damage to towels, bed linen, room furniture or other room items will be chargeable.

Course Payment Policy

  • Full course payment must be cleared upon arrival at the school or after the Opening Ceremony.
  • Payment is accepted in any currency, such as USD, GBP, AUD, EUR or INR.
  • Late payments may be subject to penalties.

Exams & Certification

  • Course assessment consists of two parts: a practical exam (sequencing and teaching a yoga class) and a written exam based on the course curriculum.
  • Written exams are generally conducted around the 25th and 26th of the month.
  • Exact exam dates, timings and instructions will be informed in advance by the management team.
  • Successful completion of exams and fulfilment of attendance requirements are mandatory for certification.
  • Our school is registered with Yoga Alliance USA and Yoga Alliance India International.
  • The school is also ISO 9001:2015 certified, ensuring high educational standards.
  • Upon successful completion, graduates are eligible to teach yoga and establish yoga schools worldwide.

Students staying after the course ends will be charged INR 1,500 per night. Please contact the reception desk for prior approval and availability.
